The Nelia Wilson Foundation was founded in 2021 in honor of Sipiwe's grandparents, Wilson and Nelia Chijuwa.

In order to ensure children obtain the resources needed so they can be successful in breaking the poverty cycle. By doing this, we will improve and empower these communities so the children can become future leader's, and successful in their own right.

Sipiwe Kahari

Founder


Sipiwe is the Ceo and Founder of the Nelia Wilson foundation. She was born in Zimbabwe, and moved to the United States when she was young. Sipiwe is an accountant, traveler, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. She is always on the go, whether working on her latest business venture or exploring the world. Making a difference and giving back is her passion, which is why she is involved in numerous charities and causes.



Tapiwa Kahari, LMSW- Clinical Social Worker/Clinical Therapist

Board President


Tapiwa Kahari was Born in Redcliff, Zimbabwe and moved to Lansing, MI as a child. Tapiwa received her Master Degree In Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University and currently is the CEO/owner of Evergreen Therapy, LLC. Tapiwa loves to travel, explore new cultures and experiences. Her passion is seeing that children and adults have adequate access to mental health services to be able to cope and thrive in any environment. Tapiwa is honored to be a part of The Nelia Wilson Foundation and to continue serving its mission.



Ceciliah Chijuwa

Board Member-Treasurer


Born in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, Africa. Received an MBA from Davenport University and l also hold Master's degree, majoring in Guidance and Development. I am Department Manager in the Early Childhood program. Early years are most crucial for child development. My passion is to make sure no child is left behind. In addition to that l love learning and working with people from different cultures

Whitney Couthen

Board Member


Whitney is the Founder and CEO of a technology startup for travel experience services. She started her career in the biopharmaceutical industry where she worked for over 13 years, focusing on vaccine and biologics production, and global supply chain. Whitney is a faith-led, values driven individual who is passionate about giving back, supporting underserved communities and uplifting women and children of color.

Her hobbies include reading, traveling and cheering for her favorite sports teams. Whitney is from East Lansing, Michigan and currently calls the Greater D.C. area home.


Our Work

Through the continous donations we are able support a range of programs that work to improve education, health and nutrition, gender equality, disease prevention, treatment, and research; water, sanitation, and hygiene.


Chinengundu Primary School

Through this foundation, we are able to provide the students with access to learning materials and sports activities. As well as maintaining the upkeep of the school with the repairs and maintenance as needed.
